We have been contacted by a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. Her research is about new relationships in care homes in later life. She wants to explore when residents (aged 65 and over) who are married or have a partner living outside the care home form an attachment/bond/relationship with another resident in the care setting. She wishes to explore this from the perspective of the non-care dwelling spouse/partner as she am interested in how they experience and make sense of their long-term partner forming a connection with and having feelings towards a third person.
She has reached the stage where she looking for people to take part in my research (older adults with a spouse/partner in care who is showing feelings towards or forming a bond, attachment or relationship, with another resident). She is looking for assistance with raising awareness of her research and reaching groups of older adults in order to find people who are in this situation.
If you are interested in knowing more about the research programme and/or would like to become involved in the research then email us at info@wigo.org.uk and we will connect you to the PhD student running the programme
